  • Madison-Morgan Cultural Center 434 South Main Street Madison, GA, 30650 United States (map)

Nashville country singer-songwriter Eric Dodd hosts Masters of Songwriting, a night of storytelling and songs featuring two of Georgia’s most prolific songwriters, Randall Bramblett and Shawn Mullins! Join us on Saturday, April 8th in the MMCC Auditorium at 7:30pm following the conclusion of the third round of the Masters Golf Tournament!

Tickets are $75 and are on sale now! We hope to see you there for a fun night!

Host, Eric Dodd grew up in Greensboro, Georgia chasing two things: golf balls and guitar. He had a passion and natural gift for both. He earned a golf scholarship to Georgia College and State University, where he majored in business. When he wasn’t playing in golf tournaments, he was playing in frat houses with his band. He eventually transferred to the University of Georgia to pursue a music business degree and immersed himself in the fertile Athens music scene.

But in the end, it was lyrics over links that brought him to Music City. In 2016, Dodd gained national attention as a CMT Discovery Artist, but he honed his craft playing more than 100 dates a year throughout the southeast performing in clubs, SEC colleges, and music halls where his likable personality, feel-good lyrics, musicianship, and energetic stage presence earned him a faithful following in a region with strong musical tastes and a deep pool of talent. Dodd has amassed over 10 million streams, and when he isn't on stage or curating songwriter events, he is writing songs for himself and other artists. Moreover and most recently, he and his business partner, Matt VanZant created their company Oconee Music Foundry and are managing the career of Lake Country's, Anslee Davidson.

Meet the Masters of Songwriting

Randall Bramblett

Esteemed singer-songwriter Randall Bramblett is a multi-instrumentalist musician with a career spanning four decades. The Jesup, Georgia native has been highly sought-after for his creativity as both a collaborator and skilled touring sideman.  His talent has earned him the respect of his peers and many of rock’s finest luminaries.  In 1974 he was part of the Gregg Allman Band for his Laid Back album and tour.  In the 1970's he joined Sea Level with Chuck Leavell.  He’s shared stages with artists such as Steve Winwood, Bonnie Raitt, The Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic, among others.   He’s also a noted songwriter - he penned the title track for the Grammy nominated Blind Boys of Alabama’s last album, adding to a long catalog of songs covered by Raitt, Gregg Allman, Bonnie Bramlett, Hot Tuna, Delbert McClinton, Chuck Leavell and more.

But it’s Bramblett’s own career as frontman where his artistry is truly on full display and gives him the most satisfaction.  He's recorded 12 albums for labels Polydor, Capricorn and the last seven for New West Records. Deep into his self-described second act of his solo career, and living in Athens, Georgia, Bramblett's talents are repeatedly praised by musicians, critics, DJs and fans.

Shawn Mullins

After a series of indie releases and growing buzz in the Atlanta music scene, Shawn Mullins’ critical and commercial breakthrough came when 1998 Soul’s Core shot him to fame on the strength of Grammy-nominated No. 1 hit, “Lullaby” followed by AAA/Americana No. 1 hit “Beautiful Wreck” from 2006’s 9th Ward Pickin’ Parlor. His song, “Shimmer” was used in promotion of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and was included on the Dawson’s Creek soundtrack. His co-write “All in My Head” from 2008’s Honeydew was featured in episode one of the hit TV sitcom “Scrubs.” Mullins also co-wrote the Zac Brown Band’s No. 1 country tune “Toes.” In early 2002, he formed super group The Thorns with Matthew Sweet and Pete Droge. “No Blue Sky” from the resulting album, is a modern day classic. For the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough album, Shawn revisited the music of Soul’s Core byrecording two new versions of the album. He calls this Soul’s Core Revival. This is not a remix or a remaster of the original, but rather brand new recordings with new arrangements of the songs – one album is stripped down solo performances, some on guitar, some on piano and maybe one a cappella and the second is a new studio recording with his full band, Soul Carnival.
