How was it made? Block printing William Morris Wallpaper

The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center historic school building’s first grade classroom is the Arts and Crafts Gallery which also serves as the Members Room. It showcases fashionable decor and furnishings from the Arts and Crafts Period of American design. The Members Room is adorned now with honeysuckle patterned wallpaper printed in England from the original wood blocks of the William Morris Studio. Visit the Center Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10AM-5PM to view the William Morris wallpaper and other Arts and Crafts furnishings.

Please enjoy this video provided by the Victoria and Albert Museum. This video recreates the painstaking reproduction of a William Morris wallpaper design from 1875, a process that can take up to 4 weeks, using 30 different blocks and 15 separate colors.
