EARTH BOUND offers Loving Kindness

by Clare Wolfe

Strengthen feelings of kindness and connection toward yourself and others in a free guided meditation offering at The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center this Saturday afternoon (June 18th).

In Pali — a language that's closely related to Sanskrit and spoken in northern India — “Metta” means positive energy and kindness toward others. Metta is an active form of meditation where instead of focusing on the breath, we focus on sending benevolent thoughts and wishes out into the world, as we imagine that the people—or even animals—in our minds are touched by our good will.

Madison resident Kelly Kozel brings years of open-minded exploration to the practice of meditation. Kelly left big city life in 2018 and a corporate career in 2020, to connect more deeply with the 25 acres of farmland she now calls home. She and her family live and work on Talking Trees Farm, where caring and restorative practices of mindfulness and sustainability are in authentic partnership with the natural environment.

Kelly will lead the METTA MEDITATION, also known as LOVING KINDNESS MEDITATION, on ***This event has been cancelled until further notice*** Saturday, June 18th from 3:30-4:30pm. Whether you have never meditated before or you’re seasoned in your meditation practice, Metta can be a powerful tool to send love to yourself and others. Community members of all ages and abilities are welcome to join us in a safe and welcoming space in Gallery 3 at MMCC. This offering is a free community event part of the EARTH BOUND exhibition outreach. Reservations are not required.
