About the Instructor:

NancyJeanette always knew she wanted to be a painter. “I still see the reproductions of Van Gogh, Picasso and Klee that covered the walls at home,” says NancyJeanette. As a young artist, she felt inspired by their daring use of color and line to communicate beyond the surface of objects in our everyday world. This interest in communication of “inner subject” remains an integral part of her work today.

NancyJeanette attended Texas Christian University, University of Texas, Indiana University and East Tennessee State University, where she studied languages and received advanced degrees in French, Slavic Linguistics, and Early Childhood Education and took “a few art classes along the way”. After completing her degrees, she began a formal study of art at University of West Georgia. She taught art at the Heritage School in Newnan, Ga. She has studied with distinguished artists throughout country and has taught classes at local studios in the Atlanta area over the past 10 years.

Today she works exclusively in acrylics, enjoying their freedom and versatility that allows experimentation with color, texture, and application. She has studied with Tom Powers, Charles Reid, Everett Kinsler, Anne Emerson Hall, Diana Tomo, David Boyd Jr., James Richards, Laura Lanford, Ingrid Christiansen, and Maggie Siner. She has taught art workshops and classes in the Atlanta area for over a decade. Her works have received numerous awards in both local and national juried art shows and her work regularly appears in exhibitions throughout the the United States. Her work can be seen at the Boyd Gallery, the Atlanta Artists Center, Monroe Walton Center for the Arts and Madison Artists Guild.
